WILTON'S STRIKE DANCE FESTIVAL
The Reservoir is a new dance work by Estela Merlos and Thomasin Gülgec which will premiere on 3rd May 2016 at Wilton's Music Hall.
Inspired by Jean-Dominque Bauby’s book The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, the duet explores transitional states of disembodiment and a sense of release through memory and imagination. The impulsive and rhythmic music, composed by solo cellist and producer Oliver Coates, is imbued with dreamlike patterns and submerged echoes.
MOVING ASSEMBLY PROJECT
Estela will be joining former Rambert dancer and choreographer Dane Hurst on a teaching and choreographic programme in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. MAP will be visiting the Ubuntu Education Fund in Port Elisabeth and Amaphiko Township Dance Project in Grahamstown during three weeks between March and April 2016.
"The aim of the Moving Assembly Project is to make contact with existing
grass-roots organisations in developing countries, identify the potential within the
students and develop a tailored teaching programme to assist the process of
nurturing and education whilst providing vital mentor support and coaching"
Since end of January Estela has been involved in creating a new dance production choreographed by The Print Room associate artist Hubert Essakow. Terra will premiere at The Coronet Theatre on 25th February and will run three weeks of shows, ending on 12th March 2016.
